After a long wait, the NBA community has reached that time of year again, when 2K Sports begins to release player ratings ahead of the game#39;s official release date on September 10. Inevitably, there will be heated debate over the player ratings, and the Milwaukee Bucks‘ trio of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday sparked the most controversy by being the first team to receive a perfect score.Among the players, Antetokounmpo receives the highest rating of 96, followed by Middleton, who receives 88, and Holiday, who receives an 85. It#39;s incredible that Middleton was able to achieve an 88 rating. It demonstrates that more and more people are beginning to recognize Middleton#39;s exceptional talent, something that Bucks fans have known for quite some time. His final rating in 2K21 was an 85, so seeing him receive a three-point overall rating increase is fantastic to see as a fan.I was a little surprised that Middleton received a three-point boost, considering that he began the season with an 86 overall rating and remained in that range for the majority of the season before receiving the boost. His starting position of 88 indicates that, with a good season and the achievement of some fairly reasonable goals, he could even break the top 90 overall.Additionally, he is now only two points behind Jayson Tatum and one point behind Zion Williamson, both of whom are All-NBA caliber players, putting him right in the neighborhood of where he should be.To Antetokounmpo, who for some reason has lost one overall point from his starting rating in NBA 2K21, let#39;s take a look at him. Yes, the Finals MVP began last season with a 97 overall rating, finished the season with a 96 overall rating, and will begin this season with a lower overall rating than he did last season.Even though I understand that things change as the game progresses from year to year, it#39;s a little perplexing that, following Antetokounmpo#39;s championship run, he loses an overall point and remains the same as he was at the end of  https://www.aoeah.com/nba2k-mt/nba2k21-mt NBA2K21 MT.Throughout the season, the general consensus was that Antetokounmpo would be unable to win in the playoffs and that his game would not translate to success in the postseason. So he has one of the best postseason runs in history and doesn#39;t get a rating bump as a result of that performance? Fortunately, he is tied with Kevin Durant and Steph Curry while being one overall point above Nikola Jokic (who lost an overall point from when he ended 2K21), which means there is no one above him at this point in the tournament. However, LeBron James did not tweet that Giannis should be rated a 99, as he did for Durant and Curry, which leads me to believe that he believes Giannis isn#39;t as good as those two players.(Please understand that I am completely joking and that you should not take this seriously.)Finally, we have an overall rating of 85 for the movie Holiday. I understand that it is only a video game rating, but 85 is a low score in my book. Because of his outstanding season and playoff run, I would have predicted that Holiday would end up at 87, but  https://www.aoeah.com/nba2k-mt 2K MT had other ideas.Even though I understand that defensive stats aren#39;t given as much weight as they should for players in the game, and Holiday struggled offensively at times during the playoffs, this is the same guy who averaged 22 points and 10 assists on 37 percent shooting from beyond the arc in the Conference Finals. Without Holiday#39;s offensive contributions, the Bucks are unable to win the series.His field goal percentage (50.3 percent) and 3-point percentage (39.2 percent, 4.8 attempts per game) were also career highs during the regular season, as was his effective field goal percentage (57.0 percent) and true shooting percentage (55.2 percent). I#39;m not sure how this equates to a loss of one overall point from his final 2K21 rating, but here we are nonetheless.When the full ratings are released, it will be interesting to see who the players are who are in the vicinity of Holiday#39;s rating. So far, LaMelo Ball is one point lower than Holiday, which seems low for the reigning Rookie of the Year, but at least Holiday is one point ahead of the rest of the field.Although these ratings are not final, it is possible that the trio will raise their rankings as they continue to rank among the league#39;s top players in the near future. The number of people who went on vacation increased by as much as four points overall last year. Perhaps we will see a similar spike in the future.
