Rayalaseema Institution is an Indian state university located in Rayalaseema. Dr. T. Prakasam, a scientist and educator, created it in 1922 as the Rayalaseema University of Andhra Pradesh, and it was renamed after his death in 1953 to Dr. T. Prakasam University of Rayalaseema.

The university was recognised on January 1, 2010 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(F) and 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956 as Deemed to be universities.
